Biography

Akiko Yokoyama (b.1973) has been attending the Kobosyu studio since 1997. Initially she rejected interaction with others in the studio and would even isolate herself, needing persuading to help out with tasks. After a year, her desire for expression blossomed. She now creates several drawings a day using crayons and markers. She draws calmly from memory creating pieces including balloons, pink ladies, and glasses. Her friendly, happy disposition has inspired many others in the studio to be more creative. Over the years many people have come to visit Yokoyama and her artwork in the studio and her work has been exhibited in several museum shows.
