Disability and Curation podcasts

Aidan and Jennifer at Chapel FM in Leeds

Disability Arts Online and Graeae have been commissioning a podcast series called ‘Disability And …’ Myself and Aidan Moesby (Disability Arts Online Associate Artist and freelance curator) were asked to take part and dicuss ‘disability and… curation’ that was released earlier this year (episode 8) - you can listen to it here. We discussed many things including the nature of curation, barriers to visual art for disabled artists and the lack of representation and possible solutions to getting more disabled artists into mainstream visual art settings. With special thanks to Chapel FM in Leeds, for hosting the conversation. This podcast contains some strong language. There is a full transcript available of this talk here.

A second part to this podcast came at the Foundry in London as part of Disability Arts Online ‘Contested Spaces’ exhibition curated by Aidan Moesby. Episode 10 of the ‘Disability And...Podcast’ was chaired by artist and curator, Aidan Moesby. On the panel was curator and founder of Jennifer Lauren Gallery, Jennifer Gilbert, Senior Curator of Middlesborough Institute of Modern Art, Elinor Morgan and artist Ashokkumar Mistry. It also has some reflections from the audience. You can listen to it here
