The Big Draw X Jennifer Lauren Gallery

The Big Draw x Jennifer Lauren Gallery are excited to bring you a number of monochrome creative Sunday sessions throughout the Autumn season.

The Jennifer Lauren Gallery is thrilled to be partnering with The Big Draw for a series of three workshops linked to their Monochromatic Minds exhibition from 2020. Since then, the below three artists have been trained by the Gallery and Lucy Ribeiro, to run workshops both online and in-person. Each one-off workshop looks at the artists unique style or that of another artist that they liked from the exhibition. Please support the artists, book onto the workshops (through eventbrite) and learn new skills and about artists you may know nothing about. All workshops will be held with limited numbers over zoom. The workshop fee will be split between the artist and The Big Draw charity.

SUNDAY 10 OCTOBER 2021 | 3–4:30PM
Join artist Terence Wilde for a 1.5-hour black and white workshop exploring mark making onto handmade paper concertinas. After selecting a word based on an emotion or feeling, you will then begin to use your new techniques learnt, to develop a larger work on paper to include different marks, words/poetry, and other characters or figures if desired. Be inspired byTerence’s autobiographical works and see where your mind takes you during this workshop! BOOK HERE (places are limited)

SUNDAY 24 OCTOBER 2021 | 3–4:30PM
Join artist Christopher Samuel for a 1.5 hour black and white workshop, focusing on dense, layered marks and your experiences of lockdown. After exploring different mark making and layering techniques in biro or thin pen, you will be asked to look at an image of a space you spent a lot of time in or missed being in during lockdown – be sure to have this to hand. You will then have the opportunity to build up this space on paper, with heavy, layered marks and more sparse areas, based on the style of Christopher’s artworks. Be prepared to press hard with your pens and have something to lean on under your paper! BOOK HERE (places are limited)

SUNDAY 7 NOVEMBER 2021 | 3–4:30PM
Join artist Sam Jevon for a 1.5-hour workshop exploring her practice, using her drawing ‘Legs’ as inspiration. After looking at Sam’s art practice, you will begin with looking at different mark making techniques that she uses. This will lead to you using your creative flair and new techniques learnt, to draw something in black and white, that sits onto Sam’s legs – a template will be sent to you via email. We can’t wait to see what your imagination produces! BOOK HERE (places are limited)
