On 10 March 2021, Jillian Steinhauer wrote in the New York Times listing the Shinichi Sawada solo show at Venus over Manhattan as one of three shows to check out. This was the first US solo exhibition of Sawada, organised in collaboration with the Jennifer Lauren Gallery who has worked with the artist for many years.

Jillian said, “His sculptures are rich with allusions… They evoke other things while being unlike anything else.”
