On 25 February 2021 Courtney Coffman wrote in New York Times T Magazine about the Shinichi Sawada first US solo exhibition at Venus over Manhattan being one of five things they were recommending that week in New York. This exhibition was a collaborative show organised with the Jennifer Lauren Gallery, who has worked with the artist for many years.

Courtney described Sawada’s sea of mythological creatures as, “a wildly imaginative bestiary that transports its viewer to a different realm, offering a welcome reprieve from our current one.”
